Kawasaki, Kohler or Briggs & Stratton
Choosing the "best" engine among Kawasaki, Kohler, and Briggs & Stratton depends on your specific needs—durability, power, maintenance, and cost all play a role.
Kawasaki often gets the edge for durability and reliability, especially in commercial-grade applications like zero-turn mowers. Their V-twin engines are known for smooth operation, high torque, and long lifespans—sometimes exceeding 2,000 hours with proper care.
Kohler’s a strong contender, particularly with its Command Pro and 7000 Series engines. They’re built tough, with good power output and solid fuel efficiency.
Briggs & Stratton has a massive presence, especially in residential mowers, and their Vanguard line competes with the best for commercial use. They’re affordable, easy to find parts for, and simple to repair—ideal if you’re DIY-inclined.
